EnvyMUD is a MUD codebase written by Michael Chastain, Michael Quan, Mitchell Tse, David Love, and Guilherme Arnold which was created in 1994 as a derivate of the Merc Industries 2.0c codebase which itself was based on DikuMUD. It was billed as a successor to Merc as it contained many key members of the original Merc Industries team.  Envy team members and their friends ported The Isles OLC for use with the server.

EnvyMUD had two major release versions: the original release (1.0) in 1994,[1] and version 2.0 in 1995. The latest release version is 2.2 that was finalized in 1997.[2]

Merc spawned ROM (Rivers of MUD) and Envy, among others, and these in turn had their own spinoffs."
